Tips to keep your clothes better for longer

1. This may seem like a no brainer but look at the label! It almost always has care instructions to help you know the best way to wash and anything to avoid.

2. Hand wash anything with sequins or add on. The fine particles can get caught on the machine and tear off easily. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

3. Separate your whites, bright, and colours. On laundry day I like to empty my baskets into 3 piles and do three loads. You can also purchase laundry baskets with 2 sides so you separate as you go into darks and lights.

5. Use the lowest spin speed needed. The gentler the cycle the less likely delicate fibers will come off your clothes. If there’s no stains or dirt then just use the delicate cycle.

9. Purchase a front loader washing machine. Using gravity instead of an agitator means your clothes and sheets will have fewer friction points and their fibers will be maintained as well as possible.

10. Dry out of direct sunlight. The sun is great for drying quickly but can cause fading and fiber degrading.
